This Week in Mrs. O

September 12: The First Lady, joined by actress Eva Longoria, visited Watertown High School in Watertown, Wisconsin as part of the Drink Up initiative to encourage people to drink more water. For the event, Mrs. O wore a blue tie-dye Jasmyn dress from Tory Burch, previously available here and here. From the Tory Burch website: "the jacquard-based fabric is hand-dyed by women artisans from the Kindia region of Guinea (in collaboration with the There Is No Limit Foundation) using century-old techniques that make each style truly one-of-a-kind."

September 11: The President and First Lady were joined by Vice President and Dr. Biden for a moment of silence on the South Lawn of the White House on the 12th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.

For the appearance, Mrs. O wore a purple sheath dress that recalls the classic, clean lines of Maria Pinto's aesthestic. The designer is unconfirmed, but vintage Maria Pinto would be my guess! The First Lady wore a similar dress for her recent interview in Parade magazine, here.

Later on Wednesday, Mrs. O visited the USO Warrior and Family Center at Fort Belvoir, VA. For the visit, Mrs. O wore a Jason Wu custom teal linen and silk double bow sheath dress, first seen in July 2009, here.

Have a splendid weekend!

Maria Pinto M2057

For those who have missed Maria Pinto, the Chicago-based designer, once a mainstay in Mrs. O's wardrobe, she is back! Pinto recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund her new line M2057, described as "beautiful, versatile, affordable womenswear inspired by urban architecture and design." Many will recall that Pinto closed her Chicago business in February 2010, covered here. You can learn more about the Kickstarter campaign here.
