O.Chat > Obama/Thalia Salsa Dance

At the "Fiesta Latina" concert at the WH, latin singer Thalia asked President Obama to get up and dance with her...and the day after there was a video going around of Mrs. O'allegedly' giving Prez the cold shoulder when he got back to this seat. What bothered me was how everybody on these different sights (Huff Post, Youtube, etc) were trying to point Mrs. O as a jealous, angry, insecure woman (we know she's not). Saying she was showing her jealousy/insecurity because her husband was dancing with a petite beautiful woman and that she needs to get a grip. My thing is..what does her size have to do with anything! When I saw it on PBS it wasn't "bad" as the clip made it seem l like...short and innocent. But ieven f Mrs. O was really upset..who could blame her...that is HER husband!

What did you guys think about the Salsa Dance?

This is complete nonsense. I've put the video link of the whole performance below. The dance takes place around 25 minutes. She asks the president for a dance and then she goes to Michelle to kind of ask permission and they clasp hands and Michelle is obviously laughing. The president never touches Thalia. And he doesn't dance very long. As she gets a little closer but not close, he turns while waving his hand and goes back to his seat.

The kids are laughing, but I couldn't see Michelle at that point, but a second or so later there's a shot of them where there's no doubt he's talking to Michelle and she's laughing--looks like at whatever he is saying or doing. Another shot not long afterwards and they are still laughing together.

The right-wingers have been trying to pin that angry bit on her since early in the primary. I saw one video of her when she gave a speech while introducing her husband probably in Iowa and talked about fear. It was a good speech, but she uses some fairly graphic facfial expressions. When he came out, he was really beaming at her.

They can't find any personal dirt to pin on either one of them so they make stuff up. But it is very discouraging that Huffington Post would perpetuate such a thing.

Thalia is not petite. She is pretty and sexy, but not petite.

@ Sharon

Well it wasn't Huffington Post it self that said those things but some users from their site that commented under the video made those remarks.I read those statements under the comment section. But it's sad that they're still trying to pin Mrs. O as the "Angry Black Woman."

I didn't see the Huffington Post piece myself, but I recall past experiences when there were negative posters. It hurts the discussion because eventually it degenerates into simply back and forth slams and defense.

I think it is a shame that Michelle has to be so guarded, but such is the first lady's burden She carries it off beautifully, but she is a much grander person than what we are allowed to see.

One of the late night shows has a photo-shopped clip of the president dancing and coming back to the table with Michelle. The video has been altered so that it shows Michelle picking up the centerpiece and breaking it over his head after he sits down. I certainly hope that no one is mistaking it for something that really happened. I cannot imagine that Michelle has any insecurities around her relationship with her husband and they are both too attuned to being in the public eye to ever reveal anything too personal.

I think the "real" video shows the first family enjoying a wonderful night together.

I have it on good authority from those who were actually there, that Mrs. O was clapping and dancing in her seat and having a good time while her husband danced with Thalia. I think that folks are trying to stir up something and find some friction between them. They can't believe that he doesn't have a woman on the side, hidden away on air force 1 or in the pantry next to the Oval Office. If there was a woman don't you think that she would be talking already, unable to contain herself, watching him share all the love with Michelle. Someone would have paid her a handsome sum of money to start talking. You bet that there are women trying to get him to slip up. Watch them try to grab and kiss him on the welcome lines and watch the secret service pry hands away. He is a very handsome man, intelligent, powerful, bound to attract this kind of attention. He obviously turns to his wife for female attention. As long as he keeps doing that they should be OK.

Why was my post deleted? My goodness there was not one offensive remark made by me and someone reported it? wowwww

I guess it's true when they say..."the only things that do not hide for long for long would be the sun, the moon and the truth".
