Weekend Getaway

Image by Saul Loeb / Getty Images

The first family spent the weekend away at Camp David -- hopefully a relaxing, fall retreat for the Os! Mrs. O debuted two, new casual ensembles while traveling to and from, including an inventive lace-back top, seen in the second photo above.

Update: In the top photo, Mrs. O wears a Lion Crest  top and Houndstooth cardigan from the line Lolly by Obvious Clothing. Lolly is designed by Chad Kimball, star of the Tony Award winning musical Memphis. The first lady attended the musical with her family this spring, and later invited Kimball to sing at the White House for the first family (to air on PBS, October 20).

I saw the pics yesterday when they left for Camp David. I love this family. I also believe it's The Obamas 18th anniversary today (October 3rd), that's probably one reason they went to Camp David.

Wow, is it just me or has Sasha had a growth spurt??

Oh, I thought that she was wearing a scarf in the second photo and had the ends trailing down the back. Are you sure that isn't what is going on?

They look incredibly happy. I'm still shocked at how the Obama girls have grown so much since the campaigning days. Malia is almost as tall as her father. I hope they all had a restful weekend.

I hope they were able to enjoy the weekend at Camp David. I love this First Family and pray for their safety and security. That said, Our Girl's casual style is still #1. The Young Girls are doing it up, too! Such inspiration for us hoi polloi. Thanks, too, to Mrs. T. for your continued devotion and dedication to feeding our delightful obsession.

Malia is wearing a J. Crew grey cardigan from the new fall line. It just appeared in stores last week.

Is it possible that the one sweater is being worn backwards, with the colorful top underneath? The lacing sure looks like it ought to be in front....

I really love this black traveleing outfit. I don't know if the top was designed this way or if our Michelle styled it this way, but it is smart and sharp. This is so doable for anyone who likes it, we probably have all the elements in our wardrobe already. FLOTUS looks like she is wearing an outfit straight from Breakfast At Tiffany's, only thing missing is the over-sized, dark shades. I'm not ashamed to say this.....THIS WILL BE MY NEXT TRAVELING OUTFIT! This is a no-brainer, black tunic, black slacks, black bag, black sweater to throw over it, silver or pewter flats, and a killer, colorful oblong scarf draped over the back. Yes ma'am, I'm copying this one!

The return outfits on the girls are darling. My only complaint is that are growing soooo much! Right before our eyes! Isn't it just like a woman, we want to keep them little girls forever! I hope the entire family enjoyed themselves and one another. Great looking family, The Obamas!

See picture #4 in following link. It looks like a sweater laced up in the back over a colorful top.

Isn't she wearing that second top with the back in the front in another set of photos? Or is it tight knit laced over billowing silk in both back and front?

I don't think Mrs. O looks happy and she and the pres both look highly stressed
