This blog has been such a treat over the last few days. Choice of pictures - superb. Thank you.

Love the dress - cool, fresh and comfortable for travelling in. I love the way she has styled her hair on this trip also. The swept back look is perfect for the heat and humidity of India. I can't wait to see what she'll be wearing in Indonesia. She does America proud.

When Mrs. O. visited Europe, her choices in fashion were mostly spot-on. So far, this trip has been a disappointment, fashion-wise. With the exception of two ensembles (including last night), I have not cared for her choices. This dress reminds me of sweatshirt material, and all of the ties in the back are just too much. Just one would have looked good.

I love it!! I don't usually like her hair like this but it works with this look-

Her hair being pulled back may be due to heat and/or humidity. Since she has spent most of her time outside, her usual hairstyle may not hold.

Just watched her land in Jakarta, she looks stunning in an Indonesian style maroon pants suit (my description)

I think she looks elegant with her hair up. It displays her very beautiful face. Her outfit is lovely

Here she blows

I totally love the cut and style of this dress! Perfect for travel. She looks comfortable and beautiful.

denisegirl, thanks for the photo. I was just watching an Indonesian livestream and I think the tunic is really gorgeous on her. Would love to know more about the fabric.

Rather interesting outfit, meta, the top looks like it can be worn as a sheath dress. Quite lovely.

Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 6:29 AM | Registered Commenterdenisegirl

meta--do you have a link to that livestream? I've been looking but haven't found one. Thanks.

This dress is quite lovely. I love the fit of the top and the flow of the skirt, plus the back ties add a little pizzazz. Great!

But now CNN is also carrying the press conference:

The back of this dress is darling and photographs so very well!

Does anyone know where to get this gray dress?

I think she always looks the very essence of elegant, wherever she travels! But having seen her descend and go up the stairs on Air Force One on numerous occasions now, I would suggest to her that she stick with a longer length skirt hem or wear pants. I look at some of the shorter things and think, OH, perhaps the press corps and waiting officials at the bottom should avert their eyes. It looks as though they could look right up her skirt. Hopefully, it's just the angle of the photograph that gives that impression.

This looks like a nice, inoffensive travel dress. Nothing terribly special (though I'm sure it's worth more than half the clothes in my closet.) I like the seaming, but II'm a little iffy on the bows in the back. But I guess if you know you're going to photographed from the back, you should flaunt it! :-)

LOVE this dress. We see it again in the spring for sure.

I can't say I love this dress, but I am consistently fascinated by the sheer number of dresses that Mrs O manages to find that are quirky, original and appropriate. I might not love it, but I can quite see how Mrs O would want to find a loose, comfortable, smart and pretty dress for flying in humid climates. Which if you think about it is the worst combination of situations! So to look nice while doing it, well, kudos to Mrs O.

The lines of this dress are very flattering. The color and fabric are proably a good choice in a hot climate. Love her and her fashion choices.. Takes me back to Jackie Kennedy days.

amazingly beautiful, graceful and flattering...thanks Mrs. O & President O for representing us so well.

I like the dress. Looks comfortable, classy enough and has a casual elegance to it, especially since it's dressed-up with those great shoes. And, as Posh Tater said, it's quirky and original--in a good way!

Her hair is fine too. A classic pull-back or pin-up, however women label this style. Classy and un-fussy, yet professional; not unlike thousands of professional women I've seen in New York City and other metropolitan cities.

I like the flow and breeziness of this dress, and the blue/green shoes are a perfect farewell to a country that brims with bright color.

Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 3:39 PM | Registered CommenterBevi

I really like this dress - linen maybe? It looks incredibly soft against the skin. Hard to travel for hours and hours in something stiff and too structured. Just a thought about the comment on the length of her skirts. They're perfect for her height. If people are declasse enough to try to look up the skirt of the First Lady of the United States, then that's their problem. It is certainly not something that she needs to address.

Comfort! Comfort! Comfort! Michelle Obama looks great for travel. I may not like all of the ties; but, it seems to be a comfortable dress. It's casual; but, travel appropriate..

HAVE MERCY....This is one sexy dress on our Michelle. The detail in the back makes me swoon. I like that juxtapostion, plain and understated in the front. Wait for it, wait for it.....turn around and BAM! Knocks me off my feet......I'm just sayin' So far, this has been a veritable fashion feast for us FLOTUS watchers!

Does anyone know who the designer of this is? I love it! The back of the dress is fantastic.

Georgina, the dress is by Ports 1961.

@A. both of your comments were in the queue until this morning. I read and approve comments manually, thought somehow I had overlooked MT's comments, which is clearly inappropriate and not deleted. My apologies. Also, thank you for relaying that the dress is Ports 1961, which indeed it is! How did you know? This is another unexpected pick for the first lady.
