A Holiday Classic

Official White House photo by Lawrence Jackson

We have another holiday classic from Mrs. O in time for Christmas Eve. Though just surfacing now, this look is attributed to a White House holiday function held on December 7. Mrs. O wears a metallic black sleeveless frock from Alaia, first seen in Spring 2009 for The American Ballet Opening Night Spring Gala, here. A diamond flower pin at the collar updates the look. It is a fabulous holiday dress, very worthy of a repeat. Gorgeous then and now!

I have a friend who was at this event and posted a picture of himself and the Obamas on his Facebook page. I was all, "I know this dress!" The event was the annual Christmas party for the WH press corps.

Who are those other folks?

I don't know. Maybe it's the angle, but that dress doesn't flatter her.

(P.S. Your link to the ABT gala doesn't work.)

Mrs. O looks as beautiful as she did the first time she wore this dress; the diamond really sets the "holiday" flare on it!

The link works fine. for me....and Mrs. O looks just a fresh and beautiful the second time around in this lovely dress.

The skirt part is a little fuller than I'd like (although maybe it's the length because the Christmas in Washington vintage gown was even more full and I loved it) but I like her heels (looks like she and the other woman in the picture have the same ones!).

So pretty!

I don't believe this is a flattering dress for Mrs. O. While the dress is made of pretty material, the silhouette is not working for her body type.

Mrs. T, I remember this dress was one of your favorites for 2009. I believe that pin was a gift from Mr. President.

Speaking of holiday repeats, I clocked Mrs. O in that Isabel Toledo number worn to the Ford Theatre in the winter of 2009. In the photo, she's reaching for the hand of a gentleman in a white dinner jacket. You only get a glimpse of the dress, but I'm pretty sure it's the one.

Merry Christmas Everyone! Joy and Love!

The way she stands is worth of a young queen and a dancer : she has got a poise of head and arms, she seems to bow without bending her knee and her arms get the shape of her skirt ... Quite funny. But her smile belongs to a modern busy clever woman, she shows she's got brains and confidence! I think she's a symbol of FREEDOM and self-confidence. (Sorry for my bad english)

Wishing Mrs. T and everyone in the Mrs. O community a very Merry Christmas!

The President and First Lady took the occasion of the weekly address to record a message for the holiday season:

Weekly Address: Merry Christmas from the President & First Lady

Mrs. O is wearing a gorgeous sheath in a beautiful blue (sort of a navy but also a steel blue) color with a stunning collar. She looks absolutely terrific and it's so plainly obvious that they are so in love. (As Callie Shell said in her recent video, "he's madly in love with her.")

Enjoy your holiday!

Mrs. Obama is graceful and beautiful in her eye-catching elegant, black 'after-five' dress! Hmmmm...am I dating myself or what!

By the way...the mantel-piece decorations are very eye-catching, too!

Merry Christmas Mrs. T and to all Mrs. O followers!

Absolutely agree. Mrs. T., Shouldn't you give equal billing to the other two folks in this picture????

@Wanda, of course, but I can only relay the information provided! The photo is from Flickr and there are no other details on the two other people pictured. If anyone knows such details, of course I will update.

It appears the dress fits her better in the first outing--it's a bit snug this time around.

Hmm, hyde parker, do you mind giving it another try and letting me know? Working on this end, but perhaps there was a bug?
