Hola Mexico

First Lady Mrs. O arrived at Benito Juarez International Airport in Mexico City last evening for her three-day visit to Mexico. Stepping off the plane, Mrs. O debuted a fabulous blue floral dress, accessorized with a stack of bangles and red ballet flats.

Update: Mrs. O wears the Indigo Floral Jersey Dressby Tracy Reese, available at Nordstrom, here. (Thank you Jill C. for the fantastic tip!)

Wow. The red, white and blue theme is great.

Mrs. O's interview that is posted on the WhiteHouse.gov site gives a synopsis of her schedule while in Mexico.

WHOO-HOO here is a video clip that shows the lovely movement of that dress. I think that it is lovely and celebrates the colorful culture of the Mexican people. Note the children are wearing pretty much the same color. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/video/2010/04/13/VI2010041302000.html?sid=ST2010041201558

now the guessing game about the designer. i'm betting on isabel toledo cuz it looks familiar to the one she wears for the Lincoln birthday celebration.

GORGEOUS! GORGEOUS! GORGEOUS!

Mrs. Obama, our First Lady is MUY BONITA in the gorgeous dress! The bangles, WOW! Really, really accentuate her.

Hopefully, on this trip, there will be 'professional' photographers who don't act like they work for 'Star mag' or the LIKE! Just looking for an opportunity to portray our First Lady in her outfits as if she lacks style and panache.

I literally lost my breath when I saw these picutures! Amazing, just absolutely amazing.

MS. INDIGO BLUE

I am so lovin Mrs.O in this dress. Yum!

It's almost electric, and while blue and white is a classic combination, this print and the touch of red makes it theatrical, contemporary and very chic. Mexican colors and style are dramatic; earthy based tones are often used with deep blue and accent colors that are bright, vibrant and reflect a bold love of life. Clever, very clever indeed...

I will anxiously be waiting to see what other fashion treats unfold for the rest of this trip.

Cheers!

She looks fabulous as always this dress is divine!!!!!

Ohhhh! I forgot about the bangles and the earrings! The multi bangle look in different widths adds just the right touch of classy balance to this ensemble. The ivory and gold accentuate the back-drop of ivory in her beautiful 'Mood Indigo' dress. The bow and solid border near the hem offset each other and creates an alluring richness to this dress. Making it command APPLAUSE! The earrings style is really cute from what I can see. Can't tell if they are ivory and gold or just gold.

Looking forward to seeing what she's wearing next while in Mexico!

Thank You, Mrs. T!

She always makes my day.......caliente!!!!!!

I love this look. Her dress is perfect and floaty for an evening arrival in a hot country such as Mexico. It also shows how hard she has been working in the gym because her arms are solid. I need to step up my game.

The colours ? Perfect !!! She is representing the USA with red, white and blue. The stack of bracelets compliments the look nicely. I saw a video of her arrival and was touched at her kissing all the children. They must have been stagestruck, I would be.

What more can I say that hasn't been said before ?

FLOTUS is the most hardworking first lady that have ever known in my lifetime. I am incredibly proud of her and America should be proud of her as well.

The best accessory, as always, is Michelle's smile. She is so genuine.

Lovin' the red, white, and blue themed attire. Very vacationy and a nod to the style of Mexican dress. I love how she's already gotten color from her stop in Haiti and no doubt from the sunny weather DC has had of late.

These photos brought a huge and instantaneous smile to my face! Mrs. O looks glorious! So energetic and vibrant and engaged, a perfect "I'm in Mexico" dress!

Wow Mrs. O is going to take Mexico by storm, I wonder if she speaks Spanish? I know she is pretty good with French?

I've been reading this blog for a while but never posted comments. Words simply fail to describe how much I love this woman, our first lady. But I couldn't withhold anymore. When I saw these images on Today show this morning, I suddenly woke up and felt groggy no more. She looked breath-taking! She not only dresses nicely, but she really owns her looks!

Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 11:28 AM | Unregistered Commenterpipsqueak

Aww, So pretty! If this is how she's starting her trip, I can't wait to see what's coming next. She's going to charm Mexico with her great personality and style. I know it.

My guess is that the dress is Sophie Theallet. Something about the swing of the bottom of the dress and bright colors/print makes me think of her designs.

I love her dress and shoes but hate her hairstyle . It makes her face big and masculine . What happen to her new bob cut?
I wish she always styled her hair like on this link photo: http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j4/cnrward/Ethnic/610x-54.jpg

Love it. She looks fantastic.

Nic John,

It is a bob haircut. It's styled, swept back off her face. Attention is what you duly seek with that crass comment, so sit back and bask in the swift and eloquently typed back-handed slaps heading your way. You deserve it.

Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 12:25 PM | Registered CommenterMcKinley

oh Nic John or whatever you call yourself STFU.you always come here to make disparaging comment about her hair, her face.give us a break.

the day you will look as nearly as good as Mrs, i will be impress. don't come here and project the warped and twisted sense you have of what is beautiful or not.

Its very nice to see a hard working, smart, saavy and chic first lady representing our nation. Can you imagine the alternative had November 2008 turned out differently?! We would have been further aloof from other nations and probably starting even more wars while making new enemies. Mrs. O looks fabulous here, even more important is that her agenda in in direct correlation to the presidents and is more business than fluff. United we stand!

Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 12:51 PM | Unregistered CommenterSilver Pearls

She obviously put some thought into how the colors and style of this dress represents Mexico, as well as the USA.

Wonderful, Mrs. O!

Is her dress DVF?

Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 1:10 PM | Unregistered CommenterKate

I think her hair looks just fine this way. This is just the casual pulled back version of her bob and she saves pulling her bangs to the front of her face for other occasions.

Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 1:33 PM | Registered CommenterAri

Fabulous! I love this dress on Mrs. O! She radiates joy and will be a much-needed ambassador to Mexico.

McKinley, you reply to nic john was perfect. I will attempt to practice your gracious restraint.

To those of you who follow the White House as well as fashion, check out the White House Press Corps website. Great close-up photos of the President and Mrs. O. Very cool to see what the prez sees when he's speaking to the press. Check out all the tabs: there are photos on each one.

I like the nod to American with the red white & blue color scheme.

There are new pics of the Mexican First Lady & Michelle has on bright yellow flats.

These two most recent appearances combined with the green flats on vacation in NYC & meetinh children at the white house make me think that colorful flats are her new thing (similar to broaches).

Neat but in the newer pics I think it downgrades the outfit a notch and comes across as a tad too casual, even if everything else about the outfit is great.

There's something about even a kitten heel that screams "appropriate".

I know she is doing alot of walking about the museum and perhaps it is a nod to being taller than everyone but I guess I'm not the most massive fan.

Here are a few pics of Mrs.O and the First Lady of Mexico visiting the National Museum of Anthropology. Both ladies look great. I like the floral dress and pop of color with the bright canary yellow flats. I see she's really bringing out the color for Mexico, which is very apropos considering the culture and the climate.

Mrs.O's dress reminds me of a vintage DVF wrap dress I saw on model Natalia Vodianova about a year ago. There's footage of it here at about the 6:54 mark and onward. Could it be vintage DVF?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERlqYgEpo3k

Why does the Huffington Post have to pit these 2 ladies against one another in a silly "Fashion Face-Off". These ladies have a lot more in common than pretty dresses. From what I hear First Lady Margarita Zavala was also an accomplished lawyer before her husband ran for President. It just seems kind of lame and sexist.

I wonder if her dress is a Tracy Feith ? That dress is so versatile, throw a shawl on for an evening look with some strappy heels, a jacket for a day look or flip flops for a stroll along the beach look. I love it.
