Style on the High Seas

Image by Rogelio V. Solis / AP Photos

The first lady was back in the gulf coast today to thank the Coast Guard for their efforts to clean up the oil spill, and to help christen a new Coast Guard cutter boat. Mrs. O will be back in the region soon -- late this summer the entire O family will vacation on the Florida coast. For today's event, the first lady wore a sleeveless dress, featuring a space dye-effect skirt and striped blouse top. Any first thoughts on the designer?

Update: Mrs. O is wearing a dress by Peter Som, from the designer's Spring 2010 collection, seen here. The bodice is a tonal striped mousseline and the bottom is a layered shimmer organza boucle. Almost two year's after the start of this blog, it's still exciting to follow the first lady's ever expanding roster of designers.

Ok, I'm a member of the Green With Envy at Cindy fan club! How wonderful for you. Whenever someone encounters our Michelle one of the things that's almost always mentioned is her warmth and tenderness. Our family is planning a trip to DC and we are forever hopeful that we can visit The Whitehouse. Lord, let me keep it together if I see FLOTUS. POTUS will be at my former workplace on Friday. A few of my friends that still work at JNAP is sooooo excited about it. I do understand!
@ Cindy Too......good for you. We tease, but we're really happy for ya' kiddo!

I've been waiting for the video to post so thanks for the heads up, Anagrom. Like others have said, I too am envious of Cindy and her good fortune to have met Mrs.O. Watching the video gave me a good sense of what it must have felt like, being there and experiencing the event and her speech first hand. Hurray for the two arm swing approach....and hurray for our incredible First Lady!!!

I would love info on the earrings. They are sexy!

I think Mrs. O. looks just as uncomfortable as the three people standing beside her, although they must have been suffering even more with their long-sleeved jackets. Can you just imagine how hot and humid it was there? They ALL look exhausted.
