Bus Tours and Baseball

Photos by Susan Walsh, Tom Gannam and Paul Sancya / AP Images

Wednesday was another jam-packed day for the First Lady, who started out with an appearance alongside the President at Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Hampton, VA for the final day of his bus tour. While the President pitched his Job's Act, Mrs. O had good news of her own. The First Lady announced that the American Logistics Association (ALA) and their 270 affiliate companies have committed to hiring 25,000 veterans and military spouses by the end of 2013 -- certainly a big win for the Joining Forces effort!

After a quick stop at a pumpkin patch, the First Lady was off to St. Louis to attend Game 1 of the World Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Texas Rangers. There, Mrs. O greeted veterans in a program sponsored by Major League Baseball and Joining Forces. Mrs. O and Dr. B also made an on field appearance, joined by Marine Lance Corporal James Sperry and his daughter Hannah for the national anthem.

On a style note, Mrs. O rewore a few pieces seen earlier this year, including a Reed Krakoff blazer and Marc by Marc Jacobs sweater, both seen here.

Update: Bonus video!

Thanks so much Mrs. T!! The photos you have posted this week have been just wonderful. Mrs. O is a busy woman, doing so many good deeds, and looking so good while she does them. We are lucky to have her in the White House!

I love love that shirt with stripes. Any information on it? I just don't understand the belt at all.

Purple belt doesn't really seem to go with the outfit so maybe it was her way of shouting out Spirit Day (which is today, Thursday) since she wouldn't have any public events today?

(The White House avatar on Twitter is purple in honor of Spirit Day)

My take on the belt is that it draws the eye to the narrowest part of her body, i.e. her slender waist.

While I would much rather seeing FLOTUS and SLOTUS wearing Detroit Tigers bomber jackets (oh well, we came close), it's still good to see them at The World Series opener! What a formidable. caring pair they are.
As for fashion, I like the Marc Jacobs ensemble. Maybe it's my monitor but the belt looks like a royal blue. That footage of her teasing our President is too cute. I am sooooo proud of the whole presidental team. Great leadership!

Curious question that I know is a little late, but.....does anyone know if there is a blog like this one for Dr. Jill Biden? This blog was such a great idea initially and has developed so well as time has passed. I just wonder if someone made for Dr. Jill?

Thanks so much!!

Hey, here's video of Mrs. O and Dr. B at the World Series. Mrs. O had on a super cute motorcycle jacket(looks suede, but I'm not sure) and a yellow scarf.

i lived in a military town and have to say that our soldiers really are the guys you want around if ANY trouble arises. Military folks dont freeze when things get hot

Glad I am not the only one questioning the choice of the blue or purple belt with the stripe top. The color is really a distraction--makes the whole look a "miss". I realize she likes to wear a belt, in many ways has become a fashion statement but this time it did not work.

I love that whole first look - the striped sweater, belt and slacks. I'm surprised no one has commented on the patent leopard shoes she's wearing with the outfit. Personally, I think it's all a great, witty look - appropriate for the moment and so much her style.
