Electric Sunshine

Images by Jason Reed / Reuters

First stop: the Obamas visited the Cidade de Deus "City of God" neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro. Mrs. O projected a bright mood, in a neon floral pocket skirt and sunshine yellow sweater set. A turquoise necklace provided the final punch of color.

Update: Mrs. O wears a 18KT Rose Gold Davantino with Iranian Turquoise necklace by Lucifer vir Honestus.

Who knew? You CAN wear a blue necklace with a green and yellowed flowered skirt. And beautifully!

LOL ... I can't focus on the clothes, as I love when they are all together as a family.:)

So often Sasha appears tense and worried in photos. Of course, that's not necessarily the case as some people's features are cast in a permanent worry or frown. Their inner feelings might be quite different. However, we rarely see the radiant smile that glows in this photo with the other children. It must be disconcerting to know the whole world is always looking at you, but I'm reassured to see that in this instance she appears to be having fun. Being a president's youngest daughter is a difficult job.

Lovin' the colors of the sweater, tank and the print on the skirt is just divine! The surprise of the blue in her necklace is brilliant. Glad to get a glimpse of Mrs. Robinson. They all look like they are enjoying themselves!

I think it is great that the Obama's went to a favela. This represents the true sprit of who they are. Most dignatories would not be seen dead in such places but often favelas are amazing communities of people all working together.

Anyway, yes I love every picture but I must get the info on Mrs Obama's skirt.

It's thoughtful to wear Brazil's national colors, and the outfit is festive. I love the print of the skirt.

@ Jestina, today I read the same thing. The people in that small shanty town said they were thrilled that President Obama and his family were coming to visit because maybe now their own government will pay more attention to their plight. It seems that most dignitaries only visit the normal attractions after going to The Presidential Palace. They are hoping that his visit will let the world know they exist. Wow, what a powerful statement.
Anyway, onto fashion. Dis anyone notice that Our First Granny and Mama Jan came along also? Both of these ladies appears to be having a good time and looking kinda snazzy doing it. I saw some shots of them on gettyimages and Daylife also. I like that J. Crew twin set our Michelle is wearing with such a colorful skirt. I read that these are the colors of Brazil's flag, how thoughtful. Finally, we see POTUS in casual wear! All of the other pics are of him in a suit, this is a good look on him. Everyone is bringing the fashion.
Mrs.T, are you tired yet? Keep up the good work!

Not a very flattering outfit...

Love the pictures! Thanks Mrs. T. for your continuous efforts updating us on what the FLOTUS is wearing and also describing more than just the clothes. I would just like to let you know that the name of the favela is Cidade de Deus (Portuguese) and not Cuidad de Deus (Spanish)
