Pixel Prints and Ombre Florals

It's been a full day for the First Lady. This morning, wearing a Preen pixel print dress paired with a honeydew hued jacket, Mrs. O joined Walt Disney Company Chairman and CEO Robert A. Iger to announce that Disney will introduce new standards for food advertising on programming targeting kids and families.

Next up was an interview with the Associated Press to promote the publication of the First Lady's new book, American Grown. For the occasion, Mrs. O wore an ombre blue floral shirt dress paired with a belt and cardigan. Very "ladylike with a twist" on both occasions!

Update: In the second photo, Mrs. O wears the Boy. by Band of Outsiders Degrade Toile de Joie Dress. A trench coat version of the dress can be seen here.

Ohhhhh, Mrs. O., wore that Preen pixel print back on May 1st, I really like it combined with honeydew hued jacket, such a sleek look. The blue floral shirt dress reminds me of those my Mom wore back in the 60's, but with fabric matching belt, I've always admired that style, sort of mad men meme!

When the Preen pixel dress had its first outing I have to admit I had mixed feelings about it, but this time worn with the lemon jacket and pearls I think it looks really striking. It could have been the lighting the first time round, but this time the colours look so cheerful and vivid
I agree with Boazwife, the floral flared dress and cardigan looks so 60's and reminds me of my lovely mother too

FLOTUS wears these full skirts so well, and with such confidence. Love the dress with the cardigan. The jacket worn with the color block dress which we saw a few weeks ago takes on a totally different look and meaning. Enjoy the the jacket with the dress more.

I really like the Preen pixel dress - both times - the jacket is the perfect cut for it.

The floral dress does feel like something from the sixties- very feminine. My mum wore dresses like that too!

Two different styles, both lovely. The jacket and dress really caught my eye.

Mrs. O sure knows how to combine! I love the way she "re-cycles" her clothes and gives them a different look. The first time I saw her wear the Preen pixel print I wanted one for myself! Love the way she combined it with the jacket. And am sooo loving the ombre blue floral dress!!!!

Well, I have to say that I am loving that Preen dress the second time around. I think it is the jacket.

Oh my gosh! Mrs. O is rocking both outfits! The jacket really makes a statement with that blocked Preen dress the second time around. NICE!!!

I loved the Preen dress the first time around but I love it even more w/ the jacket and pearls. The jacket is FABULOUS. I can tell that it's not meant to close and butto and b/c of the cut, it has a great slimming - hour-glass shape - effect. LOVE it.

I agree that with the lemon jacket the pixel dress makes a whole different (better) impression. I still think it's a difficult piece to wear well.

Just paging thru this month's Glamour magazine and I came upon the same yellow blazer that Michelle appears to be wearing! It is Preen and is paired with matching pants. I,too didn't care for this dress for the first time around, but with the blazer it's somehow more pleasing to the eye.
In the 2nd pic, I would like to see this pretty dress without the cardigan.

I didn't see the Preen dress the first time around, but I totally love it here. It's so crisp and happy. She looks like she's enjoying wearing it.
I'm not crazy about the shirtwaist. It's a little Lucy Arnaz/Harriet Nelson for me. I like the shape on her - she wears full skirts beautifully - but the color (or lack of it) isn't doing her any favors. In fairness, my response to the color may be in comparison to the Preen - which is all about color.
It's hard to imagine two more different dresses coming out of the same closet in a single day.

Thank you Mrs. T for these two very beautiful and different fashion statements worn by our First Lady. They both look very nice! I really like the second entry--being a child of the 50's I remember the style very well (and ironing the pleats flat)-smile!

I'm a sucker for ombré so I do love this, even though the colours aren't technically rich enough to be truly outstanding on Mrs O.

I am amazed at how appropriate this dress is for a visit to Disney, where it has everything to do with computers, colors, pixels and animation. I mean how cool is that! I am sure that all the artists, designers, and IT technicians were very, very pleased, I know I am.

I agree with most posters that the simple jacket was the perfect foil for this dress. What about shoes?

If that skirt or dress was true ombre, the bottom would be a darker blue all the way around and get lighter blue in gradations to the top. Instead, the skirt looks as if it were dragged in mud.

Rocky, since you put it that way...(Disney pixe animation), I have a new appreciation for this dress being worn to that event. How cool is that?l

I loved the first dress, sort of liked the second, but the trench coat version just isn't attractive (in my opinion). Glad she chose the shirtwaist.

I too love the appropriate donning of the Preen, and think it's smashing with the citron jacket.

This Preen dress is so much fun, a really happy dress! It's refreshing to see how our Michelle plays with fashion and how she shops her own closet.
The ombre dress is by another designer that I'd never heard of before. It's great that these designers are getting big time exposure from FLOTUS wearing their clothes. This dress reminds me of a more modern dress that June Cleaver wore on Leave it to Beaver. I know that I'm dating myself with that reference!
