A Favorite Tracy Feith

The First Lady met with 6th graders from Willow Springs Elementary School in Fairfax, Virginia, who were visiting the Decatur House in Washington, D.C. today. As part of the visit, Mrs. O announced a $1 million grant from American Express to the White House Historical Association to preserve the house and slave quarters.

For the appearance, Mrs. O turned to an old favorite, her wisteria print Tracy Feith dress, first seen during the 2009 inauguration and worn at least four times since! For those who thought the First Lady's bangs had been swept to the side for good, they're still going strong.

the Wisteria dress is one of my favorites too, 8-) Has been since its debut, something at the National Cathedral???
The BANGS, the BANGS! Yes, they do seem to require more maintenance than they've been getting...

As always, the pictures with the children were such a thrill to see! What happy faces all around. As she is with every demographic, she's even more so terrific with children! An extremely powerful maternal being, she very effortlessly exudes such a deep ease with, love and caring for all children and you always get this sense that she very intuitively recognizes each child's unique quirks, needs, worries, fears and yes, tricks and responds to every single one no matter how brief or flitting her interaction with them--

And as with her every interaction, supremely authentic and genuine just like the woman herself! There's nothing contrived or affected about this magnificent woman or her interactions--
The Tracy Feith dress I think she's worn at least 6 or 7 times! Day after inauguration for church service and White House meet and greet in 2009; at the United Nations Mission 2010; with wives of G20 (?)heads of state at the at the farm to table event outside New York 2011, meeting with the queen of Denmark at the White House 2011, at a childcare center in D.C 2011, at the 2012 memorial (?) day event at Arlington national cemetery; etc.-

And she still made it look so lovely and fresh each and every time!

Mrs. O engages so well with children.

The look on those two little girls' faces tells it all.

Funny because about a month ago I was thinking about Mrs. O and how she'd probably be making another appearance in that dress sometimes soon! She loves it!

I love this dress. So beautiful and simple but elegant. I enjoyed these pictures:

@SoccerNana, she really does engage them well. She doesn't just humor them like many adults tend to do with kids.

I love that she recycles from her closet, just like we all do. The dress is lovely and the children are truly engaged. I like the hair style--just straight but those bangs are a little long; maybe she's growing them out!

This is one of my favorite photos of Mrs Obama. I remember seeing it during the London Olympics and it really touched my heart.

This dress like the turquoise Pinto dress that the first lady wore at the DNC will always hold special memories for me. I remember getting ready for work one morning in 2008 and watched Michelle's speech on the morning news. I had barely heard of the name Obama and being British had no great interest either. However, it took just a few minutes of hearing this amazing woman talk about her husband to make me fall in love with her and here I am 6 years later. The Tracy Feith dress was the dress she wore on the first morning of the rest of her life after an amazing inauguration the day before. I remember looking at her going to morning service with the kind of pride and trepidation that parents feel as they stand at the school gates watching their child start their first day of school.

@ Audrey, Thanks for the link; I've never seen that picture before. I share your heartfelt sentiment.

Not one of my favorites, but obviously one of Mrs Obama's....cheers to her for re-wearing things...though I always like to see new things!

@SoccerNana, it made me cry the first time I saw it. Such a simple but powerful interaction with the happy, beautiful, brave little boy who just happened to be in a wheelchair--

I never get tired of this one. As Jestina said, it brings back such sweet and warm memories of the very first time that we saw FLOTUS in this dress.
Never gets old!
