Mrs-O.com is a blog dedicated to chronicling the fashion and style of First Lady Michelle Obama. Founded September 2008.

Mixed Blues Mrs. O

The First Lady hosted an event about food marketing to children in the State Dining Room of the White House last Wednesday. For the event, Mrs. O wore a navy blue and turquoise tweed dress with inverted pleats at the neckline and an embellished stone belt.

Update: Mrs. O wears a custom blue multi tweed sheath dress from Jason Wu.

This Week in Mrs. O

September 12: The First Lady, joined by actress Eva Longoria, visited Watertown High School in Watertown, Wisconsin as part of the Drink Up initiative to encourage people to drink more water. For the event, Mrs. O wore a blue tie-dye Jasmyn dress from Tory Burch, previously available here and here. From the Tory Burch website: "the jacquard-based fabric is hand-dyed by women artisans from the Kindia region of Guinea (in collaboration with the There Is No Limit Foundation) using century-old techniques that make each style truly one-of-a-kind."

September 11: The President and First Lady were joined by Vice President and Dr. Biden for a moment of silence on the South Lawn of the White House on the 12th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.

For the appearance, Mrs. O wore a purple sheath dress that recalls the classic, clean lines of Maria Pinto's aesthestic. The designer is unconfirmed, but vintage Maria Pinto would be my guess! The First Lady wore a similar dress for her recent interview in Parade magazine, here.

Later on Wednesday, Mrs. O visited the USO Warrior and Family Center at Fort Belvoir, VA. For the visit, Mrs. O wore a Jason Wu custom teal linen and silk double bow sheath dress, first seen in July 2009, here.

Have a splendid weekend!

Maria Pinto M2057

For those who have missed Maria Pinto, the Chicago-based designer, once a mainstay in Mrs. O's wardrobe, she is back! Pinto recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund her new line M2057, described as "beautiful, versatile, affordable womenswear inspired by urban architecture and design." Many will recall that Pinto closed her Chicago business in February 2010, covered here. You can learn more about the Kickstarter campaign here.

Let's Move Back to School

The First Lady hosted a back-to-school Let's Move event at Orr Elementary in Washington, D.C. on Friday. For the event, Mrs. O was joined by Allyson Felix, Washington, D.C. Public Schools Chancellor Kaya Henderson, North America Reebok President Uli Becker and Shaquille O'Neal. After delivering remarks, Mrs. O joined students for some exercise.

On the style front, Mrs. O wore a navy sleeveless shirtdress paired with her signature Alaia belt for the speaking engagement. In the gymnasium, Mrs. O paired black leggings with a lululemon forme jacket in midnight iris multi, available here.

Mrs. O in Tracy Reese

President and First Lady Obama, alongside former President Bill Clinton and former President Jimmy Carter, attended the Let Freedom Ring Commemoration as part of the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington today.

For the occasion, Mrs. O wore a gorgeous scarlet and black Tracy Reese Embellished Flared Frock, available on the designer's website, here.
