Let's Move Back to School

The First Lady hosted a back-to-school Let's Move event at Orr Elementary in Washington, D.C. on Friday. For the event, Mrs. O was joined by Allyson Felix, Washington, D.C. Public Schools Chancellor Kaya Henderson, North America Reebok President Uli Becker and Shaquille O'Neal. After delivering remarks, Mrs. O joined students for some exercise.

On the style front, Mrs. O wore a navy sleeveless shirtdress paired with her signature Alaia belt for the speaking engagement. In the gymnasium, Mrs. O paired black leggings with a lululemon forme jacket in midnight iris multi, available here.

Mrs. O on the Move

The first lady has been on the move in promoting her "Let's Move" initiative this past week. On Thursday, February 28, Nike announced that it will spend $50 million on the “Let’s Move Active Schools” effort over the next five years. On the same day, Mrs. O exercised with children from Chicago Public Schools in her hometown of Chicago, IL, later traveling to Springfield, MO, where she spoke at a Walmart Neighborhood Market. Earlier in the week, Mrs. O appeared in Clinton, MS alongside Rachael Ray. On the style front, Mrs. O embraced a range of fashion, from athletic wear to a pinstripe suit!

Update: In the first picture in this series, Mrs. O wears a lululemon athletica Forme Jacket *Brushed in Love Red/Deep Coal, available here (thanks reader Sandy). In the third picture, Mrs. O wears a J.Crew Lightweight merino cardigan and shell with neon trim, available here.

Over the next three days, Mrs. O will make stops in Iowa, Arkansas, Texas and Florida to celebrate the second anniversary of "Let's Move!" Stay tuned!

Update: Thanks to reader Meg for spotting Mrs. O's top: the lululemon run: switch back long sleeve top in heathered black, available here.

Fabulous to Fitness

First Lady Mrs. O visited Maple Avenue School in Newark, New Jersey today, where she promoted the "Let's Move" initiative with Newark Mayor Cory Booker. Mrs. O's next stop was the New York Police Athletic League's Harlem Center, where the first lady not only emphasized the importance of physical fitness, but got in on the action.

With the change of venue came a change of wardrobe. Mrs. O began the day in a gray top, paired with a gray, gold and scarlet print skirt. A tassel necklace (the first lady's second in recent weeks!), a black belt at the waist, and black tights and boots completed the look. In New York City, the first lady turned to athletic wear, wearing the Potion Purple Define jacket by lululemon and black athletic pants.

Update: In the first photo above, Mrs. O wears a Jacquard floral skirt by Etro. Thanks to Maria for the tip!

Mrs. O was in New Orleans today to support the NFL's Play 60 clinic, which encourages children to move at least 60 minutes per day, and aligns with her own "Let's Move" initiative. Earlier in the day, the first lady also made an appearance at Brock Elementary School in Slidell, Louisianna to launch a new phase of "Let's Move," focused on nutrition.

The back to back events required a quick change of outfits for Mrs. O. To speak at Brock Elementary School, the first lady wore an embellished, chartreuse dress by Moschino, first seen at a White House Cinco de Mayo event in 2009, here. For the NFL event, which included a game of flag football, the first lady dressed to suit, changing into a Run:Revitalize tech top by lululemon athletica (thanks Claire!) and athletic pants.
