A Fresh Frock

The President and First Lady hosted the annual picnic for members of Congress on the South Lawn of the White House this evening. For the occasion, Mrs. O wore a green sundress accented with bands of yellow at the waist and hem. Teal flats completed the summer look.

So pretty. So sweet. So loving. Love the fit and the length.

Love the sunny band which accentuates the summery look. Much nicer than last year but even then she looked great as always.

I so dislike the liquor advertising on your blog site now. I am quite sure that Mrs. Obama would express similar concerns, particularly if you are hoping to inspire young women with your coverage of Mrs. Obama's initiatives.

Adore the Obama's. Hate this look. It needs to move to Sasha's closet. C'mon Mrs. O. I know you can pull together a more sophisticated picnic look than this. But it JMO not the gospel!

Am I the first? this is a first! I love this dress. So fresh and clean...so perfect for summer. They look great and so happy. Love this couple!

trinisamba, I agree with you....they are the perfect pair. I like the dress and the shoes

No one really comments on this blog anymore. What happened?

That's the same dress she's wearing on the cover of Parenting magazine this month!

I love this dress. It has J. Crew written all over it with a touch of Mrs. O's creativity. Hmm Lemon and Fresh Emerald Yes The Sloane Taffeta dress colorblock style superb!

Love the colors! Her take on color combinations are rather off kilter, but bring so much vibrancy!

Very refreshing combination of colours. FLOTUS does it bettter than anyone

Where is my comment Mrs.T. I have noticed that whenever I post a comment saying who I think the designer is I usually don't see it after two or three days. I'm usually right but my comment comes on only after you post an update. This does not represent the earlier friendly spirit of this blog. It is leading me to other blogs

Perfect for a picnic!

Sunday, July 1, 2012 at 12:19 AM | Unregistered CommenterJudy

I've taken the First Lady's cue and have purchased some colorful flats (J. Crew and Cole Haan) so I can add a pop of color to an outfit. It's been fun to experiment with color that way.

@charmsee, I've been away since Thursday and just had a chance to review and approve all comments in moderation. If you register as a site member, you'll be able to comment without moderation. Perhaps that would be a better option if you would like your comments to appear immediately?

@lbp, I agree with you and will look into this. The site is part of the Glam Network, which serves the advertising you're referring to. I've never encountered this before, but should be able to request that it no longer appear.

I totally agree with c'lene. My 13 year old has this dress! Not a sophisticated style for a 48 year woman. The dress is very cute for the under 20 girls - not up to Mrs. O standards.

Sunday, July 1, 2012 at 9:28 PM | Unregistered CommenterKitCat

Please take down the liquor advertising. thank you.

Monday, July 2, 2012 at 9:01 AM | Unregistered Commenterlbp

@lbp, I promise I'm working on this. A third party (Glam) serves the advertising, so unfortunately it's not as easy as taking down a specific ad. For now I've disabled all ads from that partner.

Love this look! I didn't get the Sasha's closet comment. She's covered and looking casual, vibrant, comfortable and pretty. Does female energy and style end after 40?

A cotton sundress is perfect for a picnic. Michelle always attempts to dress thoughtfully for each occasion, so why would she want to look "sophisticated" for a picnic. She probably blended in well with the other guests.

Found this photo on Pinterest of FLOTUS going to a fundraiser in March, wearing Reed Krakoff

@ Babs..........@ Observer............. Ditto. Some people can be so insulting. MO looks appropriate for the occasion and more than for her age. Was she supposed to wear Naeem Khan?

Monday, July 2, 2012 at 2:53 PM | Registered Commentertrinisamba

I love the sundress the FL is wearing; I'm 56 and I wear sundresses.

Monday, July 2, 2012 at 5:31 PM | Registered CommenterSoccerNana

@ lbp - I couldn't agree more regarding the liquor advertisements.
@ Mrs. T, - I have to agree with lbp, I am also personally taken aback by the recent inclusion of liquor advertisements. I am glad you are looking into this.

Monday, July 2, 2012 at 6:07 PM | Registered CommenterFSD1011

@Ibp & FSD1011 - Be patient. Mrs.T has explained the situation but I believe demographics have a lot to do with what you see. I certainly have not seen any liquor ads.
@Soccernana.....I'm 53 and I wear them too. No biggie.

Monday, July 2, 2012 at 6:37 PM | Registered Commentertrinisamba

@lbp & @FSD1011, per Glam Media, there is now an exclusion for all alcohol advertising on Mrs-O.com, so you shouldn't see the ads going forward. Thanks trinisamba!

Monday, July 2, 2012 at 7:26 PM | Registered CommenterMrs. T

Completely agree with C'Lene and KitCat, this dress looks very juvenile.

Monday, July 2, 2012 at 9:45 PM | Registered CommenterBB

Mrs. T, as a frequent visitor from the UK, I wanted to say thank you for the effort you put into this blog. While the content of the ads may not be to everyone's liking, you obviously have limited control over this and have now sorted the issue. Thank you for responding to feedback from site visitors so quickly and for bringing us this great blog. Perhaps we could learn to be a little more patient.

How is a color blocked dress considered childish?? Please people be more creative with your so called "constructive criticism"!!
Love the dress, Love the couple!!! What more can I say?!

I love color blocking at any age. It creates a fresh, clean line, perfect for hot summer days. A beautiful, sophisticated choice from a beautiful, sophisticated woman. Color blocking itself is ageless. The only thing that could possibly be inappropirate with it is if she wore, say bubble gum pink or Barney purple. But of course, she's wearing a rich, very complimentary shade of summer blue. Thanks for postiong this Mrs. T.

I love the style and fit of MO's summer dress, I'm just not sold on the colour. I have to say that they really do look lovely together though. Never mind the dress, I love seeing them all loved up :)

Just Thinking
This site is full of people who do nothing but criticize FLOTUS
We know people don't have to like everything FLOTUS wears but they don't have to be nasty about it thats the reason all the good posters don't post here anymore

Friday, July 6, 2012 at 8:07 AM | Registered Commenterdanadevin74

This is an ideal dress for a picnic, especially in this hot, humid summer we're having! I cannot put my finger on what website I saw this dress, it looks so familiar.
FLOTUS & POTUS look good together. It's fun seeing them looking relaxed and enjoying themselves.
Stay cool everyone!

first day on this blog, and it is VERY well done. is there any way to immediately post the designer to the outfit? perhaps there is a chance to purchase if available in my area.

Friday, July 6, 2012 at 11:09 AM | Registered Commentermrs.m-h

Welcome to the blog mrs.m-h. Very often the information on designers is not immediately available for Mrs T. to post. Hang tight...Mrs. T provides the info. when she is able.

Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 9:37 PM | Unregistered CommenterAdear

I suspect that a lot of this criticism is being done deliberately to put off the happier posters. There will always be a faction who like to denigrate and be aggressive. And there always has been here. In an election year, do we really expect anything less?!

I really like this dress. It's fresh and summery and looks very cool for a hot day. I also love Mrs O's trademark switch of colour by wearing teal shoes. Mostly, I looove the flicky hair.

@lbp - I think when you are a guest on someone else's blog, that they run in their spare time, out of love for the subject, it's worth asking for things *nicely*. Mrs T is one of the busiest and most committed women I know. She'll get to it.

Plus, frankly, if you don't like the advertising - don't look at it. If young people want to go and find a drink, they'll do it regardless of advertising, and no policing in the world is going to stop a determined young woman from getting what she wants. And that is as it should be.

@ danadevin74, don't worry about them, they can't run us away( yes, I know, how presumptious of me to think that I am one of the good posters, LOL) I think once Mrs. O starts to get out there more and the blog is updated more frequently, more posters, old and new, good and bad, will be posting. It's election year baby!!! And I am fired up and ready to go!!! Haters beware!!!

Posh, I want a drink and I want it NOW!!!!! LOL!!

Empire waist. Great gor women who are heavy on top as it gives the illusion of symmetry .with thr way it flows... Its strang how non of ur designers told u that..
I would do flowy shirts. Tighter pauh Ints.. Symmetry.. And stay away from darkish blues and purples for ur skin tone. Dark:go black or nothinf.
Also price is not everything . Material too stiff.. And those kind of shoes should be illegal. But ur still a lovely person.. And ill be voting for the woman behind the man !
