The Buzz

Coming soon: Mrs. O in Vogue! Per the Washingtonian: "Spotted Thursday morning at the White House: a team from Vogue moving cameras into the residence. What could that be about? Well, it turns out it’s a photo shoot of First Lady Michelle Obama for the magazine’s cover, most likely the March issue."

Can't wait to see and even more so perhaps hear about her new and/or expanded initiatives. Hope it continues to emphasize our children in America--especially the crimes against children. My heart breaks and my heart prays for the little 5-year old being held in Alabama this morning.

Several magazines already have their March, 2013 issues on the newsstands. April is already done - just ready for printing. The cover is probably for May or June. I know that it will be fantastic. I wonder what Michelle will wear for this one.

Except for the "boob belts" I like everything FLOTUS wears. She is appropriate, contemporary and in STYLE!

Hey Little One! Thanks for the link to our Michelle @ Musiq's concert, really too cute.
I don't care when they publish that Vogue magazine, I'll be all over that one. (I've got a sneaky suspicion that almost everyone here will be doing that same run to whatever outlet to buy one.) Oh, that's our FLOTUS!
To the sports fans.........enjoy Super Bowl Sunday!

Can't wait to see the First Lady "blowin' up the spot!" in Vogue. ...I'm wishing it will be a 20-page spread with her and "The Girls." (I know: in my dreams. :-)

WAtching her on CNN right now at the National Prayer Breakfast! Gorgeous dark green sleeveless dress with what looks to be a beaded green and crystal pin at the shoulder. Beautiful!

An appearance! Here is a view: http://www.weather.com/weather/alerts/localalerts/USMI0750?phenomena=WW&significance=Y&areaid=MIZ075&office=KDTX&etn=0005, although maybe Mrs. T has a better photo? The pin is beautiful.

I just watched a bit of the National Prayer Breakfast on-line to get a look at what Mrs Obama was wearing. I loved the beautiful green color of her outfit. I continued to watch the video because I was captivated by the speech Dr Benjamin Carson gave. What an inspiring man and speaker.

@ Jenna, try again. But we still see you.
Dr. Benjamin Carson is nothing but an unfortunate mouthpiece for the vile rightwing and their ugly mindset - and coming here to try to push his tripe under the guise of loving Mrs Obama's green outfit isn't going to work. We see you just as we see Dr. Carson for what he is and now represents. Greed and sheer contempt for society's less fortunate.

What I am C. is an African American woman and mother of 3 who uses Dr Carson as a role model for my children. Not only because he is the Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins, who has saved the lives of thousands of children (and I am sure their parents don't consider what he has to say "tripe"), but he has used his wealth to start the Carson Scholars Fund. This is a non profit organization which since 1997 has funded 5,200 scholarships. He has also funded 87 reading rooms in schools across the country. I would hardly call that greedy. I did love the color of Mrs Obamas dress. Mrs Obama is not what she wears, so it is possible to like her dresses, but not her husbands politics. And C. I will try again because I find you so entertaining.

@ c. This is not a political blog but how does Dr. Carson wanting to improve failing schools, the health care system and tax policies amount to "greed and sheer contempt for society's less fortunate?" Sounds to me like he would like to help the less fortunate. Mrs. O was clapping during his speech and she stood to clap for him at the end of it. Seems she liked what he had to say.

@Jenna, once upon a time Dr. Carson probably fit that role model figure you describe. Unfortunately with the years and wealth that has accompanied his success he has now embraced the ugly mindset that has seen him become the voice and hero of the ridiculous rightwing and their equally ugly sentiments and skewed views with regard to taxes, (tax the poor and spare the rich) and President Obama's Health Care law which Dr. Carson continues to rail against.
@KitCat, Mrs Obama is a very lovely, polite and gracious woman and a magnificent First Lady. Notice that she was very sweet to and hugged almost everyone on that podium with them including those who hate and have incited hate against her husband: Rep. Louis Gohmert anyone? But she hugged and engaged him with a warm, genuine smile. She also hugged Elizabeth Dole, Rep Jeff Session and his wife.
If you are honest, you will also notice that Mrs Obama did clap at various times at the start of his speech - that is before it devolved into barely masked attacks on her husband the president and his policies, after which she stopped clapping. At the end, she stood up as did everyone else and clapped politely.
There is a reason the rightwingers and their hate-monger radio talkers are giddy and circulating Dr. Carson's speech at the National prayer breakfast as a "take-down of Obama". There's also a reason why Dr. Carson is making the rounds of rightwing radio and t.v.
Sorry, but your choice of role model for your children falls pretty short. Book smarts and initial good deeds don't quite make up for being a mostly self-aggrandizing jerk and latest rightwing tool.

@Jenna, once upon a time Dr. Carson probably fit that role model figure you describe. Unfortunately with the years, notoriety and accumulated wealth that has accompanied his success he has now embraced the ugly mindset that has seen him become the voice and hero of the ridiculous rightwing and their equally ugly sentiments and skewed views with regard to poverty (they are poor because they refuse to get off their lazy butts!), taxes (tax the poor and spare the rich) and President Obama's Health Care law which Dr. Carson continues to rail against. Google Dr. Ben Carson and President Obama. The guy thinks that he's in competition with the President of the United States. LOL.
@KitCat, Mrs Obama is a very lovely, polite and gracious woman and a magnificent First Lady. Notice that she was very sweet to and hugged almost everyone on that podium including those who attack, hate and have incited hate against her husband and her: Rep. Louis Gohmert anyone? But she hugged and engaged him with a warm, genuine smile. She also warmly and tightly hugged Elizabeth Dole, Rep Jeff Session and his wife. Everyone, Democrats and Republicans alike.
If you are honest, you will also admit that Mrs Obama did indeed clap at various times at the start of his speech - that is before it devolved into barely masked attacks on her husband the president and his policies, after which she stopped clapping. At the end, she stood up as did everyone else and clapped politely as is to be expected of a dignified and gracious woman and First Lady.
There is a reason the rightwingers and their hate-mongering radio talkers are giddy and feverishly circulating Dr. Carson's speech at the National prayer breakfast as a "take-down of Obama". There's also a reason why Dr. Carson is currently making the rounds of rightwing radio and t.v to gleefully talk about "taking it to" President Obama.
Sorry, but your choice of role model for your children falls pretty short. Book smarts and initial good deeds don't quite make up for being a mostly self-aggrandizing jerk and latest rightwing tool.

Beyonce is on the March, 2013 cover of VOGUE. At least that is what her team is says. The cover shot is great. Maybe VOGUE will have back-to-back African Americans on its covers.
