Mme O in Paris Match

Michelle Obama

Image used with kind permission from Flickr user badbilladams9

As comparisons between Mrs. O and Carla Bruni Sarkozy heat up, Mrs. O was profiled in French publication Paris Match this week. What's most notable is the absolutely stunning photograph of Mrs. O featured in the article, taken by photographer Annie Leibovitz. We're almost certain the photograph is from the same Annie Leibovitz photo shoot with Mrs. O for a Vogue feature in September 2007. Mrs. O's styling and accessories are identical.

Since we were on the subject of up-dos yesterday, here is yet another example where Mrs. O looks modern and elegant with her hair pulled up. On the photoshoot, Ingrid Grimes, Mrs. O's hand-picked makeup woman commented, "Her natural style is classic and elegant. She doesn't like a lot of fuss." Revisiting the Vogue feature, we were also struck that two designer names were mentioned that we don't often (if ever) hear in relation to Mrs. O's style: "On the rare occassion she finds a moment to shop, she says, she is drawn to Giorgio Armani or MaxMara for suits."

Finally, you, like us, may be wondering who designed the lovely dress Mrs. O wears in the photograph. Based on the signature cut-out at the side, we believe it's very likely Narciso Rodriguez. Update: Click here to see the dress on the runway from Narciso Rodriguez's Fall 2007 RTW collection.

Who will be the lucky young lady who gets to be Mrs. Obama's personal assistant? Can you imagine the designer offers she must get? Being able to go through those close would be amazing!

What elegance ! I am spazzing at the reality that this chic, modern, sophisticated woman is to be the face of our nation. I am so proud.
And besides Mrs O's physical and stylistic attributes, she is also an accomplished, intelligent, aware woman. Wow, what more could we have hoped for ? Look out America - here comes Mrs O !

This peach of a photograph needs to appear on the front cover of something, or even better, several covers.

It is captivating, emotion evoking and quite simply Mrs O. is utterly, utterly beautiful in it.

Wow. Just wow. No more words left....

Time for a dash of botox now that the stress of the election is over. You can see it on her face. It will relax her eyebrows and the lines in her forehead, and get rid of that always-annoyed look like she has in this photo. I don't care for the ace bandage look of the top of this dress, but she probably doesn't own it and was just in it for the picture. If Mr. Blackwell had not passed away this year, I am afraid that Mrs. O would have made his list.

Pamela, if you want to shoot your face up with poisonous bacteria that can stop your heart functioning, then feel free to do that, but don't subject our wonderful future First Lady to that kind of "advice".

Miss Pamela it seems you are competing with her.Come on..she is a perfect match of beauty and brain. She has proved that in her life. So, just learn how to appreciate others and anyways whether you that or not she is going to the first lady.Michelle Obama is stunning and will remain so all her life. She has this very kind look on her face that will always make her stand different from others.

Absolutely outstandingly stunning. This is her best picture by far. What a beautiful woman. What a breath of fresh air where First Ladies are concerned. Barack must be so damned proud of his wife.
