Sitting Pretty

Photo by Marvin Joseph /The Washington Post via Getty Images

Photographed above, the first lady sat for a Washington Post interview with Robin Givhan to discuss her Let's Move inititative to help combat childhood obesity. For the interview, the first lady wore a Moschino sheath dress adorned with a fabric rosette at the right shoulder, last seen in November 2009, here. To read the full article, chock full of insight from Mrs. O, click here.

Update: As reader Ouapiti notes in the comments, Mrs. O also wears a diamond brooch by Garavelli, which was an anniversary gift from the president.

Can I just say that I am in love with her? Like...can i say that?

Everything I have to say about this photo begins with love. Love the...this / Love the...that. You all get the point!

I agree Nyon!

I didn't see her in this dress the first time until tonight. She looked great the first time she wore it but she is even more stunning in it this time.I agree with other posters who have commented on how happy she looks. The day to day activities seem to keep her looking more beautiful and poised. She never looks harried. She is always put together even when some of you don't like the outfits. She really seems to love people and to be able to make everyone feel welcomed. She's a keeper!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure it is the lighting that makes this photo glow more than the last one taken in this dress but Mrs. O could borrow her daughter's SS code name for this one....because radiance is the first thought that comes to mind!

Stunning!!!!!

Who is designing the pearl stacked bracelets she's been wearing recently? Love them.

She looks great with a side part.

Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 2:23 AM | Unregistered Commentercanyongal

LOL Rory, that's too funny. I sure hope so because that's where I am.

Love this!

I know I could word this better, but I hope she pulls a Hillary. By that I mean going into politics or maintaining her status as a public figure after leaving the White House.

Ok, she's going to have to stop now.....I'm running out of words to use to describe her. Marvelous comes to mind, yep, FLOTUS looks marvelous in this grey sheath dress. I appreciate this initiative for better awareness regarding childhood obesity. The fact that she looks fantastic while doing so, well. that's just OUR MICHELLE!

And don't forget those long, toned, (as my teenage son would say) "totally jacked" arms! A strong woman is a sexy woman!

Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 6:13 AM | Unregistered CommenterAmy O

I love this dress also, especially the bow-like detail, which I think would be better without the small floral pin. That would put more attention on the stunning bracelet.

I'd love to see what is in her jewelry box....her accessories are wonderful. Because of Mrs Obama, I've dug out all of my late Grandmother's jewelry she has given me. Lots of broaches and necklaces ... and I'm loving the bracelet on Mrs.O's arm ... I'm wondering if I can take some of my Grandmother's vintage necklaces and rock them like Mrs O.

I won't be sportin' my arms like Mrs O - still hittin' Ballys' - but I've definitely stepped up my game with accessorizing.

Mrs.T can u post ur segment of vogue for ur international readers? i mean the interview and the pictures in case there are any of course.

i dig ur blog but i will dig it even more if you unravel the secret of Mrs.O flawless skin.i know that i keep repeating myself but god knows i will give my left arm to know what skin care she uses.even in candid shots, not photoshop ones the first thing one notices is the flawlessness of her skin.

she looks so happy in the pictures above like she is really enjoying the interview.let's hope that the american people all chip in because it is a really worthy project.

Love this chic look. And the Robin Givhan interview was pretty great, too.

Like everyone else, I am running out of words . She's simply sensational.

SWEETER THE SECOND TIME AROUND

The hair, her smile, the accessories - all make the dress seem somehow different. It's almost like seeing it for the first time. Mrs.O looks so comfortable in this interview and there is a quiet confident ease in her whole demeanor that is so captivating. It just makes you want to be wherever she is... A work of art to be admired.

Cheers!

I loved this dress in the November appearance and I'm sooo glad to see it again. There's something about these updated, well-tailored sheaths, with or without sleeves, that really work for Mrs. O in a way that suits do not. And as good as she looks in so many colors, who else can carry off neutrals this well???

I have tons of pearls and this inspires me to use them. I love the bondage but not too much look of this dress.

She is just an amazing person. I love the fact that she is so well rounded - so thoughtful of others. I just love her to pieces.
Go Michelle go!!!!. You are very well loved and we are all supportive of all your efforts to make this world a better place. Lots of kisses and hugs.!

Can only agree with and heartily second everything all the other posters have said. Mrs. O gets better every day!

Love it! I purchased a VERY similar dress from a local shop ... now I know it was a knockoff of Moschino. I will have to rock my dress like FLOTUS! Michelle rules!

Woooo I need to go to the gym right now!!! I wish I had thoses arms, and this big warm smile. The dress looks so great on her. I love the detailed embellishment.

I bet Jackie O is smiling from her eternal resting place at Michelle O.'s grace and style. If only FLOTUS-K were here and could visit with FLOTUS-O at the White House. Whew!

Isn't the pin she's wearing the same one she wore at the Nobel Prize signing ceremony -- the one the President gave her as an anniversary gift? Love it!

Let's hope her program that she is promoting is as successful as her style has been this month.

She is a terrific First Lady !

Only when I went back to the Nov. 2009 post did I notice the FLOTUS was wearing a purplish-gray belt that matches a portion of the fabric brooch........sure enough, she's got it on here, too! You can see it in the second picture (her arm covered it in the first). It's such a close match I'm assuming it's part of the overall ensemble.

"MAN’S REACH 'MUST' EXCEED IT’S GRASP, OR WHAT IS HEAVEN FOR."
I can say today, Mrs. O has answered, and I’m reassured all things are possible.

I kept these words on the fridge when my kids were growing up.
Recently my grown-up son was having some doubt with his plans, and asked -
“mom what’s your favourite phrase again? I would “throw”my palms in the air, recite
them, & say “just look at the Obamas” – he’d smile and say…thanks mom.

And the answer my friend, is “not blowing in the wind", we are looking at her. She
“lifts me up to great heights” WHAT a feeling!!!!!

Mrs. O looks great in this dress! I'd love to see it in a royal blue or magenta!

I agree lorns she is one breathtaking inspirational woman. That dress is superb I would love to have one for spring, but my body has made other plans LOL. Everyday I strive to be better and better and I have FLOTUS to thank for that :).

This is one of my favorite dresses! I love the gorgeous tailoring, the color, the fabric. It fits beautifully and is both formal and playful at the same time. And that sweet brooch from PBO just makes it very, very special. GREAT LOOK, Mrs. O!

Mrs O is at a gala tonight. I heard she is wearing a leopard print dress. I hope to see pictures soon.

Doesn't she get cold? I mean it is the middle of a fairly brutal winter back east and she is always clad in some short sleeve/sleeveless number!

Friday, February 26, 2010 at 2:02 AM | Unregistered Commenterknitoneone

Michelle Obama is a better woman than I ever could be. After all the nastiness directed at her she still grants interviews to those who disparage her, and she does it with much warmth and a kindly smile. I love this woman, no doubt about it.
(But I'm still not going to forgive the Robin Ghivan woman for all her past transgressions and I'm certainly not buying her book. Sorry.)

evevictor..........ditto for me too

My superlatives are all gone........she is just SIMPLY THE BEST.

She shold be the first female president!!!!!!

Michelle Obama 2016........Yes She can!

I just read the entire interview and it was a really good one. Very informative. I appreciated the last part where FLOTUS talked about the lessons learned from her mom. That very thought of investing in oneself is daunting for most women, but really essential for us to master. I think that if we get that message, sooner rather than later, we would be better off in so many, many ways. Good article!
