Happy Weekend

Well, apparently this little number is indeed flying off the racks. A salesperson at H&M in Soho informed me that people have been buying the "Michelle Obama dress" non-stop since yesterday afternoon. I managed to grab the last dress at the location on Broadway just below Spring. It is a size 6, and is destined for one of you, dear readers. A little Valentine from me to you!

Please leave a comment on this post by Monday, February 14, 9PM EST if you would like a chance to win the dress. I will then select the lucky recipient using random.org and mail it to you. xo

Update: Random.org has turned up comment #55, reader Yvonne. Hooray! Thank you all for the comments and excitement.

happy valentine's day all :)

I don't get it. It's a lovely dress, no question. But why do so many women want to have it?

I remember buying a special dress for a date only to have the same dress coming toward me as we left the restaurant. Excellent taste aside, each of us was horrified.

Why would women want to be copy-cats rather than originals? Why would so many women want to wear "Michelle Obama's" dress?

And Mrs. T, if the fickle finger of random.org should pick me, it would be too ironic; however, I had to ask. .

This dress is a language of its own. It speaks to the coveteouness of the self. I would love to have it,but if it coveteouness on my part, i thank Mrs O for making me human again.

How very fun, thoughtful, and generous of you... and I would LOVE this dress!! Not only am I a perfect size 6 and would feel SO special wearing it to surprise my sweetheart of 25 years, but also,
we are paycheck-to-paycheck and we're upside-down on our mortgage
our credit cards are maxxed out from dealing with problems (including RATS) on our awful house
my diabetic kid's supplies just went up in cost
our clothes washer just died tonight (!)
we have no family here
we haven't bought new clothes in forever (it's all hand-me-downs and thrift store)
and we haven't been out on a date since June '10 - can't afford it
...bonus: President Obama and I went to the same college, and I hired him as a guest speaker on my speaker series in January '99 (and of COURSE he was brilliant)...and yes, we still have the very car in which I drove him around all day and evening, and of course my autographed book... ;-) and I campaigned for him...went door-to-door weekend after weekend...still have 4 different Obama stickers on my car... OK, I'll shut up now. Best of love and luck to all, and Happy Valentine's Day!

I drove all over town, hitting 3 different H&Ms in the LA area (Pasadena, Glendale, and Beverly Center) looking for this dress, and of course they were all sold out! I'm so excited that I get another chance!

Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 3:59 AM | Unregistered CommenterGrace

I think you should keep this dress for yourself, Mrs. T....a little Valentine present to yourself for all of the work you do. If it's too big, take it to the tailor's!

How generous of you! Thanks. I love my first lady. I love her taste. She attended my best friend's church a few weeks ago and that skeptic says she's quite beautiful in person and she gave the congregation "fashion." I also love being a size 6!

Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 6:41 AM | Unregistered Commentergrace

Good for our summer's end down here! TY!

Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 7:13 AM | Unregistered CommenterC. Terra

Just beautiful...but a size 6...oh my!

Mrs. T,
Thank you for all you do to bring us Mrs. O. Last week I was riveted and nourished by listening to the speakers at the National Prayer Breakfast which I became aware of through your website. Thank you. Our first lady inspires me everyday and you keep us in touch with all her movements.
My daughter (at age 18) worked so hard in rural, red Ohio to get Barack elected. I am so proud of her commitment to our country. She is a size 6 and would look terrific in that dress.
Happy Valentine's Day to you.

Just wondering what size Mrs. Obama is. I work in the film business so I know it's very hard to gauge size on television... one reason I never walk in front of a live camera :)
She's so tall, but I have a feeling she's slimmer than she might appear.

Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 8:03 AM | Unregistered Commenterrd

So adorable! I was wondering if there were any of these left in the world after Wednesday. Happy Valentine's Day!

How generous of you, Mrs. T!! Michelle is one of my heroes--all the good adjectives apply. May the Obamas continue their campaign to bring us all together. I love this cheerful, feminine dress and here's hoping! One of us will be made happy, so thanks! K

The dress is the same as Mrs. O's - navy and white polka dot. The coloring only looks different as I took a photo using Instagram with a filter. Glad to see so much excitement!

I wouldn't promise to add the red sash, but I'd wear this dress in a heartbeat; I need something for my upcoming high school reunion. Judy
